The World Bank expects global growth to slow to 4.1% in 2022, and the slowdown in global growth will continue into 2023, with developing economies "hard landing" due to the continued outbreak of the new crown epidemic, reduced financial support from various countries and supply bottlenecks. "The risk goes up.

On January 11, 2022, the World Bank released the latest Global Economic Outlook, noting that the global economy, following a strong rebound in 2021, is due to new threats posed by the new coronavirus variant, coupled with inflation, debt and income. Rising inequality could jeopardize the recovery of emerging market and developing economies, and global growth is entering a period of marked slowdown.

The report predicts that advanced economies will grow by 5% in 2021 and 3.8% in 2022; emerging market and developing economies will grow by 6.3% in 2021 and 4.6% in 2022.

The euro zone economy will grow by 5.2% in 2021 and 4.2% in 2022. The U.S. economy will grow by 5.6% in 2021 and will grow by 3.7% in 2022.

The Omicron strain means that the recent new crown pneumonia epidemic is likely to continue to disrupt economic activity. Currently, many developing economies lack the policy space to support the economy if necessary.

Against this backdrop, a new wave of the virus, persistent supply chain bottlenecks and inflationary pressures, coupled with rising financial vulnerabilities in many parts of the world, could increase the risk of a hard landing.

The global economy is currently facing three major challenges: macroeconomic imbalances, rising income inequality among and within the world's economies, and continued pressure from the epidemic, and puts forward a series of policy recommendations on how to deal with these challenges, including: Accelerate debt relief, increase investment in clean energy, prioritize public spending, strengthen financial systems, adjust debt structure, and focus on food security.
