Whether the Central Bank of Taiwan will follow up the interest rate hike in the United States next year; the central bank’s "hawks" council members called for considering the impact of long-term low interest rates on the economy. The Central Bank should consider raising interest rates in the future, the "right timing" should be when the US raise interest rates.

The Central Bank announced the summary of the minutes of the September Board of Supervisors yesterday (4). Some "hawks" directors pointed out that although the current US FOMC meeting still believes that current inflation is a short-term phenomenon, there are still doubts. The central bank should continue to pay attention to domestic inflation. Some directors believe that considering the impact of long-term low interest rates on the economy, if the right time arises in the future, they should consider raising interest rates.
