The Executive Yuan moved to accommodate to global trends in logistics development as well as to take advantage of direct cross-straits flights and Taiwan’s geographic advantage by approving, on April 9, a revision of the Act for the Establishment and Management of Free Trade Zones that will slash to zero the business tax on goods and services traded by enterprises in free trade zones with those in tax zones and bonded areas. Foreign profit-seeking enterprises that carry out warehousing and simple processing of goods within free trade zones, and then sell the goods to overseas customers, will also be exempt from the profit-seeking enterprise income tax.
